Spain is the very eminent place in Europe. The population of Spain is 39 million, according to 1991 figures, which supposes an average density of 78 inhabitants per square kilometer, that is to say, one of the lowest rates of density of the European Union, somewhat higher than Greece and Ireland and some times less than that of the Netherlands. The unequal distribution of the population throughout the territory has created an imbalance among the regions, presenting widely different population densities. There is a growing tendency for the population to concentrate in the coastal regions and of depopulation in the interior, with the exception of Madrid and a few other cities, owing to industrialization and urbanization.During the middle Ages, Christianity cohabited with both Judaism and Islam, but since the times of Catholic Kings, it became the compulsory religion of the Spaniards.

spainThe 19th century liberal constitutions established religious liberty. But during the conservative periods the Catholic religion became the only religion.Besides the most important holidays like Christmas, Holy week, All saints day there are various local festivals that are celebrated in the local and neighborhood regions with great enthusiasm. But be it a secular or religious feast, there are always bulls present, the adult bulls in the most important rings and the younger ones in the minor rings. The Fiesta Nacional, as the bullfight is called in Spain, is experiencing an unexpected revitalization, with a great increase in spectators and to the appearance of a new generation of young bullfighters who alternate with the confirmed masters.According to the non-demographic affecting Spanish society, the new social role of women stands out. The increase in education opportunities have led to more participation by the women. The level of equality of Spanish women has changed a lot. This change was first embarked in 1960 due to various reasons. First reason was the emigration of people from rural areas to urban areas.

Then there was more women liberation. Women liberation has been marked due to more education opportunities.Spain has recently begun to suffer problems which were peculiar to more advanced societies until a very few years ago, such as the ageing of the population, although these problems are still less acute in Spain than in other European Community countries. This is because the high fertility and birth rates during the sixties and the first years of the seventies have made the Spanish population one of the youngest on the continent.Spain has a diversified modern financial system that is integrated with the internal financial markets. It consists of credit, stock and money markets. As far as the credit and stock markets are concerned, administrative involvement is confined almost exclusively to regulating the conditions for access by and permanence of regular operators and to monitoring the operations of financial enterprises, in accordance with the standard practice in economically developed countries.Spain has great sources of entertainment .There are various famous casinos in the Spain like Torrelodones in Madrid, Sant Pere De Ribes in Barcelona and Villajoyosa in Alicante.
