Russia has 13 cities with over a million inhabitants as per 2005 survey. There are also seven large federal districts. Four are in Europe and three in Asia. Federal districts are levels of administration of the national government.The capital of Russia is Moscow. It extends on a surface of 880 km. It is most booming city. It has rich resources of Churches, Museums and buildings which are part of its cultural heritage. Red Square with St Basil’s Cathedral is very famous. The politics of Russia takes place in a framework of a federal presidential republic, whereby the President of Russia is both head of state and head of government. After the collapse of Soviet Union in 1991, Russia is now trying to make more development in market economy.
Its aim is to achieve more consistent economic growth. Various policies have been implemented by the Government to encourage the economic growth.Due to legal, cultural, linguistic economic and political peculiarities of the country, encouraging foreign investment is a major challenge. There has been a significant inflow of capital in recent years from many European investors attracted by cheaper land, labor and higher growth rates than in the rest of Europe.There are various aspects which differentiate Russia from the majority of the so-called developing countires like very high levels of education and societal involvement achieved by the majority of the population, including women and minorities.
The country is also benefiting from rising oil prices and has been able very substantially to reduce its formerly huge foreign debt. However, equal redistribution of capital gains from the natural resource industries to other sectors is still a problem.Russia has high population but it has low average population density due to its enormous size. The dense part of population lives in the Ural Mountains area, and in the south-western parts of Siberia.Today’s Russia is a nation of enormous diversity and tremendous vitality.
Major steps have been taken to rebuild the monuments which are heritage of past. Ancient cathedrals are rebuilt and restored. It appears cultural traditions of a century ago have re-awakened with a newfound strength. Colorful markets hum with activity once again. Literature and arts are quickly regaining the creative renown they used to enjoy decades ago.Russia is greatly associated with its European cities. Moscow, St. Petersburg and Murmansk form the heartland of Imperial Russia. These ancient cities often become the attractions for the tourists.Europe has expanded over a wide area which covers the largest freshwater lake in the world, rivers and forests. Wildlife, volcanos and high mountains form the part of its rich and vast geographical features. Tourists find this place very interesting. The number of historical places including castles, museums and monuments are the reminders of the ancient events. The presences of variety of hotels make it convenient for the tourists all around the world to visit this beautiful place laced with the glories of the past and colorful events and fairs that have become the part of its culture now a days.
